Part 22: The Awakening Process
Breaking down the awakening process into its constituent stages

In the previous section we identified some of the key processes that are occurring and the role that they play in helping what has manifested to change from one ‘thing’ into another. It is important to realise that the reason why a process is a process is because it is comprised of phases or stages. If none of these stages existed there would be no process to speak of and so, in reality, the process would not exist. It is also important to note then that any process requires a number of events and stages to occur in succession as a part of its entirety for it to exist. We often try to ignore this fact, but in so doing fail to see the importance of it. We are not simply discussing semantics here.
Having established the fact rather quickly here that all processes must be comprised of stages, and also having identified that what we have been discussing so far is a process, means that this internal process, which we could also refer to as the ‘awakening process’, must also necessarily be comprised of a number of discernible and identifiable stages. We can imagine that the term ‘awakening process’ is referring to the fact that there is a process by which the Subject comes to realise itself through its observation of, and interaction with, the Object, which we have also referred to generally as the involutionary process up until this point. When thinking of this process unfolding within the phenomenon of the human being, it paints a more relevant picture of the nature of this process if we refer to it as an ‘awakening process’.
It is also important to note, once again, that this ‘awakening process’ is occurring both at a cosmic level and personally, from the point of perception of each individual part within the cosmic whole. We can therefore think of the individual instances where this process is occurring as each being an instance of a part of this much larger cosmic process. It is not technically correct to identify them as being two separate processes, because in reality the one is contained within the other, as a part of it. Our perception of it as being something separate from the larger process only comes about as a result of where we are perceiving the process unfolding from. The larger cosmic process is occurring as an aggregate of all of the processes of its individual parts, but these parts are also, at the same time, the individually identifiable instances of the process occurring at this cosmic scale.
